Janice Bianchi Frederickson, OD

Dr. Frederickson has 23+ years experience and prefers to be called Dr Jan. Her education began at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) with a BS in Natural Sciences/Mathematics. She then attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) where she received an additional BS in Physiological Optics and an O.D. (Doctor of Optometry).

Dr. Frederickson is highly respected in her field by both the industry and her colleagues. She has twice authored eye care related articles that have been carried in local publication. In addition to being past president of the local chapter of the state society WPOS (Western Pennsylvania Optometric Society) and a committee chair to the POA (Pennsylvania Optometric Association), Dr Jan was named "Young O.D. of the Year 1996" for the state of Pennsylvania & a finalist for national "Young O.D. of the Year 1997" for the AOA (American Optometric Association). In 2000, Dr. Jan received the 'George Gottschalk Jr. Memorial Award' in recognition of outstanding service from the POA. She is a member in good standing of all three; WPOS, POA, and AOA. Dr. Jan is an active member of the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce serving on committees there and currently is on the board of directors. She's also an officer in PTS at West Point Elementary. A particapating Doctor of 'Vision USA' and 'InfantSEE'. Other organizations and groups she is a member of include: The Westmoreland Trust; PA Cleanways; the CVC (Conemaugh Valley Conservancy); and a supporter of such local groups as Westmoreland Special Olympics, local high school groups, local Boy & Girl Scout Troops, just to name a few.

Jill Miller, O.D.
Dr Jill Miller has been practicing with us for over 8 years and brings 16 yrs of experience with her. Dr Jill is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (UPJ) receiving her bachelors degree in biology. Afterwards she attended Pennsylvania College of Optometry (PCO) where she received her O.D. (Doctor of Optometry).

Dr Miller is mostly in our office on Fridays. She is involved in the community and a proud participant of 'Vision USA' and InfantSEE. Dr Miller is credentialed to co-manage Lasik vision correction with TLC. When not practicing, her main focus is on her two children. We are proud to have Dr Jill at our office.

This practice was founded in the Greensburg area in 1928 by Dr. Ferguson, making it one of the oldest (if not the oldest) and most established practices in the region. In 1943 Dr Shoop took over and in 1950 Dr Donald Friedberg bought the practice. He then incorporated the practice. Dr. Janice B. Frederickson became the owner in 1995 and the staff strives to maintain the high level of excellence and stability expected by the patients.

Charles H. Frederickson Jr. - VP of Operations
Charlie is the senior manager of the practice and oversees all finance and marketing duties. His undergraduate degree is from California University of PA, and his MBA is from Indiana University of PA. Charlie also studied at Manisfield College, Oxford England. Charlie has lectured at POA conferences on various subjects pertaining to running an optometrist office. All advertising, budgeting, and promotional events may go through his office, but don't be surprised to see him in a tool belt and work clothes because he also doubles as the resident handyman.

Lori Montalbano - Office Manager/head optician
Lori's only been with us for 2 years but brings with her 27+ years experience. Among many hinden talents, Lori knows sign language. She can assist you with any problems that may arise. Lori can help you and Mary address that issurance issue or help Dawn help you find that 'perfect' frame, and Lori is a wiz at repairs. There may not be any opticians in the industry as knowledgeable about the different types of lens and coatings as Lori & Dawn are. And as far as fitting that specialty frame, rest assured your golf game will improve, you'll catch more fish, have more fun biking, be able to read your favorite book better while at the beach, or whatever the activity; enjoy it more! Yes, after the doctors exam and recommendations, Lori can even help with that glare while driving or being on the computer ... making even work more enjoyable ... well almost anyway.

Mary Piper - Compliance Officer/insurance
Mary has been with us for 8 years now. She handles insurance claims and is the HIPAA "guru". Rest assured, if you are due any benefits from your insurance company for the services/products we provide, she will get them for you. Mary also doubles as one of our 'Jack-of-all-trades' knowing how to do aspects of everyone's duties in case of illness or vacation.... Which means she is never allowed to get sick or go on vacation herself, dispite that she still manages to spend several weeks out west every other year.

Beverly Panigal - Technician
Bev has 17 + years experience and has been with the practice for over 15 years now. As our head technician, Bev does the pre-test, some of the visual field testing, and is the first part of our comprehensive eye/health exam. She also can handle some of the optician duties. New for Bev is the addition of our GDX, PHP, and Optos insturments which allows for extraordinary medical evaluation. It's tough to catch Bev without a smile on her face.

Kathleen Haines - Receptionist
Kathy, the practice veteran, is the receptionist/bookkeeper and has been with the practice for over 20 years. There is only a handful of the regular patients that Kathy doesn't know by name. We pride ourselves on quick and accurate checkouts ... just don't ask Kathy about her grandchildren or you may be here all day.

Dawn Rudolph - Optician
Our "newest" family member is Dawn Rudolph. Although Dawn only been with our practice a year, she brings 10 years experience with her which includes being ABO certified (American Board of Opticianry Certified). Her brother-in-law maybe a 'top-gun' naval instructor but Dawn is the one who's "top gun" in our optical. Dawn is a home town girl who's done good. She's a Hempfield grad, attended Berklee, and graduated from Western School for opticianry. Glasses need a tune-up or adjustment? Need help picking out that 'perfect' frame, sunglass, or sports goggle? Dawn will make sure the fit is just right, and the lens selection is 'just what the doctor ordered'.

Chip Frederickson - spokes-child/model
Chip is our spokes-child and part of our public relations team, and in most of our print ads. He is the son of Dr Jan & Charlie Frederickson. Chip loves to show off his glasses and go to "mommy's office". "gasshes" was one of his first words (after mom and dada). So if you see him at the office, don't be surprised if he starts asking ... "better one or two" ...

CJ Frederickson - spokes child/model
CJ also is a member of the public relations team. He demonstrates child eye protection wear. He also is the son of Dr. Jan & Charlie Frederickson. He has taken over as "king of the kid pit" from his big brother Chip, and enjoys playing with the Thomas and Friends.
